West Vancouver Police File # 91-9010 Victim: Nona STEPHENSON
17 year old Nona Stephenson was last seen alive on Oct. 12th, 1979 at 7pm. Nona was originally from the Penticton area and moved to Vancouver when she was 16 yeas old. She lived in Richmond for a short time and then lived on Triumph St. in Burnaby. She had been working at the Harbour House restaurant in Vancouver.
She was discovered by divers in 40 ft of water off of Whytecliff Park in West Vancouver. Prior to being thrown into the water, she had been shot and stabbed. Her body was weighted down in 25 lbs of heavy chain. Her body was recovered by police on Oct. 21st 1979.
Prior to her death, Stephenson had become involved with individuals active in the drug trade and prostitution. She was known to frequent Fat Cat's Club at 1337 Robson St. in Vancouver. It is believed that people she associated with may have been trying to recruit her into prostitution at the time of her death.
