The investigation continues into a serious single vehicle accident on the Trans Canada Highway in West Vancouver Friday.

Shortly after 4:30pm, March 26, 2010, West Vancouver Police responded to a single vehicle crash on Highway #1 West Bound at the Westmount Road Overpass.   Officers were assisted by an RCMP member returning to Squamish from court duty in North Vancouver.

Two occupants of the vehicle were rushed to hospital.  The driver has since been released from hospital.  At last word, the passenger and only other occupant of the vehicle remained in critical condition.

Identifies of the injured are not being released.

Westbound lanes of the highway were closed for 3 hours while investigators documented and cleared the accident scene.

Investigators have determined the vehicle drifted onto the shoulder and struck a concrete roadside barrier.  The impact vaulted the vehicle approximately 15 metres before it rolled several times and came to rest in the ditch.

The investigation is ongoing.  Driver fatigue is being investigated as a possible factor.

Anyone that may have witnessed this accident is asked to call the West Vancouver Police Department at 604-925-7300.
