Several charges have now been approved in relation to the recovery of a stolen vehicle in West Vancouver February 20, 2010.

An officer conducting patrols shortly before 5 am Saturday morning in the 4300 block of Stearman Avenue came across a car parked with the engine running and a man sitting inside.

Upon further investigation the car was confirmed as stolen and a male suspect was arrested without incident.

The officer subsequently determined the suspect was in possession of a quantity of tools commonly used in break-ins and auto crimes.

The suspect was held at West Vancouver Police headquarters over the weekend for a first appearance at North Vancouver Provincial Court Monday.

Crown Counsel has approved a total of eight charges in relation to this investigation.

Possession of Stolen Property - 2 counts

Possession of Break In Instruments - 2 counts

Breach of Probation - 3 counts

Possession of a Controlled Substance - 1 count

47 year old Jeffrey John MATHERS of Richmond has been remanded in custody pending his next court appearance March 9, 2010.
