| Lions Gate Bridge Protest Incident |
Four men were arrested by West Vancouver Police after a protest incident on Lions Gate Bridge early Wednesday morning.
Shortly after 5:30am two men climbed onto the north end of the east side bridge cable and secured themselves in place. Two other men associated to the demonstration were arrested at scene.
Police confirmed there was no imminent life safety risk and allowed single lanes of traffic to continue north and southbound while undertaking efforts to safely remove the two men.
Shortly before 8:30 the men climbed down and were taken into custody. The bridge was fully re-opened.
All four men were taken to West Vancouver Police headquarters. West Vancouver Police will recommend Mischief charges against each.
A 59 year old Surrey man, and three men from New Westminster aged 37 years, 54 years and 46 years of age have now been released on a Promise to Appear with Conditions.
The men face a first appearance at North Vancouver Provincial Court March 10, 2010. |
