Officers and Civilian Staff of West Vancouver Police are pulling together for earthquake victims in Haiti.

Officers and civilian staff gathered Friday for a luncheon and silent auction fundraiser.

After all ticket proceeds were tallied and donated items auctioned $2648 was raised and has been donated to the Red Cross.

With federal matching of donations, the event will result in over $5200 added to much needed funds to help Haiti recover from the immense tragedy of the January quake.

Chief Cst. Peter Lepine thanked staff who organized the event, and those who supported it.

Chief Lepine said the event also serves as a way for WVPD to honour the work of RCMP officers Mark Gallagher and Doug Coates who both lost their lives in the quake and to honour the work of all police officers who struggle to bring opportunities to the Haitian people.
