The investigation continues into a robbery and shooting in West Vancouver Tuesday.

West Vancouver Police were called to a report of shots fired after the robbery of a jewellery store in the 24 hundred block of Marine Dr. There were no injuries.

Four Lower Mainland men ranging in age from 19 to 26 were arrested in the Cedardale area of West Vancouver after being tracked by officers from the Dundarave area.

A vehicle associated to the suspects was abandoned on Trans Canada Highway approaching a West Vancouver Police containment point. Police surrounded the area and searched until all suspects were located.

Suspects were held in custody at West Vancouver Police headquarters overnight for a first court appearance today.

Substantial evidence was recovered during active investigation following the arrests, including recovery of a 9mm pistol, magazine and ammunition.

Substantial amounts of jewellery were also recovered.

Further detail on the recovered jewellery will be forwarded directly to Crown Counsel in a report recommending several charges.

West Vancouver Police wish to acknowledge and thank over 30 civilian witnesses, North Vancouver RCMP, Vancouver Police, and “Air One”, the lower mainland police helicopter for assisting with this investigation.

Two elementary schools in the Cedardale area were placed in lockdown during the search for suspects as a precautionary measure. The lockdowns were conducted without incident and due to timing of the arrests; lockdowns were lifted in advance of scheduled school dismissal times.
