West Vancouver Police have arrested four suspects and are continuing to actively investigate a Robbery and shots fired incident in the Dundarave area late Tuesday morning.

Shortly before noon Tuesday, West Vancouver Police were called to a report of shots fired in the 24 hundred block of Marine Drive.

Upon arrival officers determined that shots had been fired following a robbery at a jewellery store and that three male suspects had run from the scene and left the area in an older import sedan.   Police have confirmed there were no injuries.

Officers responded to contain the area and monitor traffic leaving West Vancouver.  One suspect vehicle was located in the Dundarave area.  A second vehicle associated to the suspects was found abandoned on Trans-Canada Highway eastbound just west of Capilano River.

Wtih assistance of North Vancouver RCMP and Vancouver Police, an area between the Trans-Canada Highway and Marine Drive east of Taylor Way was contained.  Officers on foot and in vehicles responded into the area.

One suspect was located by a West Vancouver officer within a matter of minutes and arrested in the area.

Police Service Dog teams assisted in recovery of evidence in the area. Air One, the lower mainland Police helicopter assisted with area patrols and containment.

Shortly after 2:30pm, three additional suspects were found in a yard by West Vancouver officers and taken into custody in the 300 block of MacBeth Crescent.  All arrests were without incident.  Investigators are satisfied that all parties involved in the alleged robbery are accounted for.

Two elementary schools in the Cedardale area were placed in lockdown during the search for suspects as a precautionary measure.  Lockdowns were lifted in advance of scheduled school dismissal times.

The investigation remains very active.

West Vancouver Police have recovered substantial evidence in relation to the offence, but will withhold specific comment on status of property taken in the offence pending submission of a detailed report to Crown Counsel.

Arrested suspects are being held in custody at West Vancouver Police Headquarters pending a first court appearance tomorrow.

Additional information will be considered for release as the investigation progresses.
